Pidurutalagala Mountain

            THE MOUNTAIN OF PIDURUTALADALA

       Pidurutalagala mountain is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka.So most of the is covered in fog.It is an area rich in natural beauty.This is located in the Nuwara Eliya District which belongs to the central highlands.This mountain is 2524 meters above sea level.Its top is a horizontal rocky plain.It is covered with dry grass.The flora and fauna here are endemic to Sri Lanka.

               Fertilizer,water hycinths,beavers,orchids and animals such as leopards,deer and  macaques live there.
      Leopards are one of the most abundant animals living here.


Pidurutalagala is spread over an area of about 7265 hechares.It is also the starting point for a number of waterfalls.There are Lovelslim,Ramboda,Garadi,Maturata fall and etc;..

The most beautiful of these waterfalls is Loverslim.Therefore,this mountain is also known as PEDROKANDA.

This is a high security area.This is due to the location of the television and radio transmission towers and the installation of the radar system of the security forces controlled by the Sri Lanka Air Force.


           Such beautiful resources are a precious resource of our country.It is our duty and responsibility to protect them.
