The Sahara Desert

The Sahara Desert is one of the largest and most popular desert on earth, covering the territory of ten African countries. There are endless sands, rocks and so on.Life there can only be found in a rare sanctuary. There is only one river following here, but there are small lakes in the water land and large reservoirs of groundwater

The Sahara Desert is located in the northern Part of Africa. It covers 3,500,000 square miles or 10% of the continent. It is bordered on the east by the Red Sea and on the west by the Atlantic  Ocean to the north the northern boundary of the Sahara Desert is the Mediterranean Sea,and to the south it transforms the desert in to a Semi-arid tropical Savannah.

The Nile and Niger Rivers,as well as Lake Chad, are the mains source of the Sahara Desert. The only river in the desert is the Nile, which flows from  Central Africa to the Mediterranean Sea.

Since the Sahara Desert is approximately 10%of the African continent, the Sahara is often citied as the largest desert in the world. However, this is not entirely true as it is only the largest hot desert as an area of less than 10 inches of rainfall per year, the world's largest desert is actually the continent of Antarctica.

The Sahara Desert is divided in to different ggeographical regions. The Sahara has a dry climate .A frequent occurrence in the desert is dust storms.Wind speeds can reach up to so meters per second.
